Binance Buys $100m Stake in Circle Amid USDC Promotion Deal
Binance has made a significant investment in Circle, purchasing $100 million worth of Class A shares at a discounted price of $80.84 each.
The deal was announced in a US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing on September 17, alongside a five-year agreement to promote the use of the US Dollar Coin (USDC).
Under this partnership, Circle will pay Binance a monthly incentive fee based on the amount of USDC held through its Modular Smart Contract Wallet infrastructure.
The investment marks the third collaboration between Binance and Circle in under two years, with Binance now holding a direct equity stake in the issuer of the second-largest dollar stablecoin.
