Binance Buys into Circle for $100M and a Deeper USDC Push
Binance has made a significant investment in Circle, the company behind the USDC stablecoin. The exchange acquired 1,237,011 shares of Circle's Class A common stock through a private placement for $100 million. This represents a 5% discount to Circle's market price at the time.
The deal also includes a new five-year commercial agreement between Binance and Circle aimed at accelerating USDC adoption across Binance's platform, particularly in emerging markets where demand for dollar-denominated digital assets is growing.
Under this agreement, Circle will pay Binance monthly incentive fees based on the USDC balances held through its wallet infrastructure. In return, Binance commits to promotional activities and deeper integration of USDC across its ecosystem.
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire highlighted the importance of Binance's global footprint in expanding access to digital dollar products worldwide.
