Binance Data Sharing Triggers Terrorism Financing Charges in Russia

A Russian IT specialist, Yuri Belenkiy, is facing terrorism financing charges in Russia, and the evidence against him comes from Binance.

The exchange provided detailed records of cryptocurrency donations that Belenkiy sent to Ukrainian military-linked groups, including the Azov Brigade.

Belinkeiy holds a Russian passport and Bulgarian residency permit, and he was detained in September 2025 before being formally charged on October 13, 2025.

The case raises questions about Binance's cryptocurrency privacy protections for users who thought their exchange had already exited Russia.
