Binance Denies Lagarde Intervention, Stays Committed to MiCA
Binance has denied reports that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde intervened in its failed Greek crypto license bid, stating it remains committed to operating under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The exchange declined to address a report from The Wall Street Journal claiming Lagarde had asked Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis not to approve Binance's application for a MiCA license in Greece.
Binance had applied for the license in January and later withdrew its application, stating it would seek authorization in another EU jurisdiction before the July 1 MiCA deadline. The latest report adds detail to uncertainty surrounding Binance's Greek application.
