Binance Digs In Over Greek License Bid Amid Lagarde Speculation
Binance has responded to speculation surrounding its failed Greek crypto license bid, stating that it remains committed to operating under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The exchange declined to address reports that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde intervened in its application, citing a Hellenic Capital Market Commission vice chair as saying she had asked Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis not to approve it.
Greek officials informed the European Securities and Markets Authority in early June that they intended to approve the license, but Binance later withdrew its application after online reports suggested the HCMC was set to reject it just days ahead of the July 1 MiCA deadline.
