Binance Dominates Ethereum Futures Volume as Rally Continues
Ethereum's spot price surged in early August, but a closer look at derivatives trading reveals that this rally is advancing without the usual surge in leveraged bets.
Data from Cryptoquant shows that Binance has been grabbing a larger share of Ethereum futures volume, posting a 121% jump since April. Meanwhile, other platforms have seen their activity nearly cut in half.
Between August 1 and August 5, Ethereum futures volume on Binance fell by 16.7%, sliding from $9 billion to $7.5 billion. Across all other centralized exchanges, the decline was 17.5%, with aggregate volume dropping from $14.3 billion to $11.8 billion over the same five-day stretch.
This divergence suggests that spot demand is providing enough support to lift prices even as traders pull back on leverage. Market analysts noted that this pattern marks a departure from prior rallies where surging futures participation drove rapid price moves.
