Binance Dominates Shrinking Stablecoin Pool Amid Crypto Bear Market
Stablecoin reserves on centralized exchanges have shrunk to $64 billion, down from $80 billion in late 2025. This decline represents a 20% drop and leaves less idle capital ready to buy. Binance is now holding an impressive 68.5% of exchange stablecoin liquidity, up from the low-60% range.
CryptoQuant data shows that Binance has proven more resilient compared to other major exchanges like Coinbase, Bybit, OKX, and smaller venues. These exchanges saw a sharper contraction in balances, allowing Binance to gain market share even as its own absolute liquidity declines.
The trend is similar to what CryptoQuant flagged in February 2025, when Binance held 65% of tracked reserves worth $47.5 billion in stablecoins. Concentration follows order books, with Binance capturing 38.7% of centralized exchange spot volume in the second quarter, according to CoinGecko.
The liquidity drain coincides with deteriorating retail sentiment. Blockchain analytics firm Santiment reported that bearish vocabulary is spreading across social platforms, including 'crypto dead' chatter. This fear language often appears when retail patience is breaking and prices feel stuck.
