The Manhattan US Attorney's Office is investigating Binance over allegations that it knowingly allowed trades violating US sanctions on Iran. This probe is separate from a previous settlement in 2023, where Binance pleaded guilty to violating anti-money laundering and sanctions laws.

Bloomberg reports that the investigation is being led by the Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, with the Justice Department's Criminal Division in Washington participating. In March, the Wall Street Journal reported on a similar DOJ examination into whether Iran used Binance to evade US sanctions.

A Binance spokesperson stated, 'We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for sanctions violations. We fully cooperate with law enforcement, and we remain committed to rooting out and shutting down bad actors.'
