Binance Faces Investigation Over Alleged Iran Sanctions Violations
The Manhattan US Attorney's Office is leading an investigation into whether Binance knowingly allowed trading that violated US sanctions on Iran, according to Bloomberg. The probe involves the Justice Department's Criminal Division in Washington.
Bloomberg reported Tuesday that people familiar with the matter confirmed the investigation, which was first reported by the Wall Street Journal in March. At the time, it was unclear whether the DOJ was investigating Binance itself or its users.
A Binance spokesperson told Cointelegraph, 'We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for sanctions violations. We fully cooperate with law enforcement, and we remain committed to rooting out and shutting down bad actors.'
