Binance Faces New Regulatory Scrutiny Over Iran Sanctions Compliance
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, is facing another regulatory challenge in the United States. According to a Bloomberg report, federal prosecutors are investigating Binance over possible violations of U.S. sanctions on Iran.
The investigation, led by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Manhattan and the Department of Justice's criminal division in Washington, focuses on whether Binance allowed transactions that may have violated U.S. sanctions restrictions.
This is not the first time Binance has faced regulatory scrutiny in the United States. In 2023, the exchange reached a $4.3 billion settlement with U.S. authorities after admitting to violations involving anti-money laundering requirements and sanctions laws.
