Binance Founder CZ Returns to Life After Prison, Remains Central to Crypto
Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, has returned to life after prison in Abu Dhabi, where he resides in a nine-bedroom villa with four bodyguards and a yacht named 'Da Moon'.
A New York Times reporter spent time with CZ, who was released from prison in September 2024 after serving four months for anti-money laundering violations. A year later, President Trump pardoned him.
Despite his plea agreement placing restrictions on him, CZ remains the majority shareholder of Binance and has continued to be involved in shaping crypto policy, advising governments across Asia on regulatory frameworks.
CZ's net worth is estimated at $114 billion. He has traveled extensively by private jet, taking part in investment and educational initiatives, including a $2 billion USD transaction involving World Liberty Financial, the Trump family's crypto venture, and UAE royalty.
