Binance Futures Launches Perpetual Contracts for Meme Coin and Utility Token
Binance has expanded its derivatives lineup by launching perpetual contracts for two new assets: PONS (Robinhood Chain) and HAJIMI (BNB Smart Chain).
The listings triggered a surge in trading volumes, with liquidity pouring onto the exchange. The exchange applied a differentiated approach to risk management, offering up to 20x leverage for PONS, while capping HAJIMI's leverage at 3x due to its speculative nature.
PONS is a utility token of Pons, a launchpad on Robinhood Chain, with a deflationary model funded by fees. It reached new highs around $0.93 and has a daily trading volume of $20.39 million. HAJIMI, a meme coin, is fueled by hype within the Asian community and currently trades at around $0.072.
A MEV attack (front-running) occurred immediately after Binance's announcement, with an automated algorithm capturing the initial wave of liquidity ahead of retail traders. The bot spent over $31,000 on fees to secure the top position in the block and profited from trading HAJIMI at a net gain of $378,000.
Trading continues amid heightened volatility for both pairs.
