Binance Invests $100 Million in Circle Amid USDC Expansion Push
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has made a significant move in the market by partnering with US giant Circle. The partnership involves Binance acquiring $100 million worth of Circle shares through a private placement and signing a five-year agreement to expand access to the dollar stablecoin, USDC.
The deal is focused on accelerating the promotion and integration of USDC on Binance's platform, particularly in emerging markets. In return for its investment, Binance will receive monthly incentive fees from Circle based on the amount of USDC held in Binance wallets.
Circle has issued 1.24 million Class A common shares to Binance as part of the deal. The agreement also includes a long-term commitment by both parties to expand access to the dollar using USDC, support saving and investing with innovative digital asset products, and reach people and businesses in emerging markets globally.
