Binance Invests $100 Million in Circle to Promote USDC
Circle has secured a significant investment from Binance in exchange for promoting USDC on its platform. The deal involves a five-year agreement and gives Circle broader placement for its stablecoin through one of the largest exchanges in the crypto sector.
Binance acquired approximately 1.24 million shares of Circle Internet Group for around $100 million at a 5% discount to market price, according to an SEC filing. The investment is tied directly to distribution support, with Binance actively promoting USDC on its platform.
Circle's shares rose from the mid-$80s to the mid-$90s following the announcement, but analysts expressed skepticism about the deal's implications for long-term growth. Nilus Mattive of Weiss Ratings questioned whether the agreement signals a late-cycle behavior rather than the start of durable growth.
