Binance Invests Big in Circle for USDC Expansion Drive
Binance and Circle have entered into a new five-year agreement to expand the adoption of USDC, a dollar-linked stablecoin. As part of this deal, Binance invested $100 million in Circle by purchasing 1.24 million Class A shares at $80.84 each.
Circle will pay Binance monthly incentive fees tied to USDC held through its wallet infrastructure. This agreement aims to increase USDC access across emerging markets, where Binance will promote and integrate the stablecoin across its platform.
Binance co-CEO Richard Teng described the investment and agreement as a five-year commitment involving Circle and USDC. He also referenced Circle's Arc network, which uses USDC for gas fees, and infrastructure for moving value across borders.
