Binance Invests Heavily in Circle Amid USDC Expansion Push
Binance has reportedly invested $100 million in Circle, a significant escalation of their partnership aimed at expanding the use and adoption of USDC, the second-largest stablecoin by market cap.
The investment comes months after Circle completed its initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL. This move marks a substantial commercial partnership between Binance and Circle, which was formalized in December 2024 to boost USDC adoption.
Binance has committed to holding billions of dollars in USDC as part of their arrangement with Circle, which included a one-time fee of approximately $60 million paid to Binance. This investment further solidifies the relationship between the two companies and suggests that they are working together to cement USDC's position against Tether's (USDT) dominance.
