Binance Launches 24/7 USDBRL Perpetual Futures Contract
Binance is expanding its TradFi derivatives offering by launching foreign exchange perpetual futures. The first contract, USDBRLUSDT, will track the U.S. dollar against Brazil's real and start trading on September 21 at 14:00 UTC.
This new contract will be available around the clock, unlike traditional FX markets that generally close over the weekend. Perpetual futures do not have expiry dates or require contract rollovers, and this contract will be priced and settled in USDT, allowing traders to use the same settlement asset across Binance's TradFi perpetual products.
Binance reports a 89% correlation between weekend perpetual moves and Monday FX gaps, indicating strong market impact. The exchange has developed a dedicated pricing model for weekends and public holidays, which uses an order-book-based exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) to maintain orderly pricing when traditional FX liquidity is thinner.
