Binance Launches Instant Stock-to-Token Conversion with bStocks
Binance has introduced a new feature allowing eligible users to seamlessly swap select US stocks for tokenized versions called bStocks at a 1:1 ratio. The conversion process is designed to be free, instant, and reversible, enabling users to switch between traditional stocks and their tokenized counterparts effortlessly.
bStocks are BEP-20 tokens issued on the BNB Smart Chain, providing 1:1 economic exposure to US-listed equities. The underlying shares are held by a regulated custodian, ensuring the backing of each token. Users can convert their stocks to bStocks and back through the Binance wallet, which operates 24/7, unlike traditional stock markets that have set hours and weekends off.
Since its launch on June 11, 2026, Binance's bStocks have seen significant growth, with assets under management exceeding $500 million by July 28, 2026. New bStock listings, including ADBEB, FWDIB, and HPEB, began trading on September 30, 2026. Binance highlighted the two-way conversion feature in a post on October 5, 2026.
The platform addresses collateral transparency with a Proof of Collateral page and operates under the approval of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM FSRA). While the 1:1 conversion offers flexibility and potential benefits, users should be aware of risks such as custodian reliability, Proof of Collateral accuracy, and the usual crypto-related considerations like smart contract bugs and wallet security.
