Binance Launches Pre-IPO Exposure on Wallet, But Risks Remain
Binance Wallet has launched Pre-Access campaigns in partnership with PancakeSwap, offering users tokenized exposure to private companies before they list publicly. This move is part of Binance's expansion into traditional assets, which began a year ago.
The first project hasn't been named yet. The launch follows the introduction of perpetual futures, giving users exposure to high-profile private companies ahead of their initial public offerings (IPOs). SPCXUSDT, tied to SpaceX, was one such contract, and that company has since completed its Nasdaq listing.
Binance opened US equities trading on June 1 and bStocks followed on June 12. Demand for tokenized stock products justifies this pivot, with the number of tokenized stockholders reaching a record 3.7 million on September 19, an increase of 86% over 30 days.
However, there's a catch: holders receive no voting rights, dividends, or shareholder rights. Binance warns that the tokens carry a high degree of risk and may not suit all users, as private company valuations are uncertain, and returns, liquidity, and settlement are not guaranteed.
