Coinmarketcap has acquired Coinglass, a derivatives analytics platform, for an undisclosed sum. The deal adds open interest, funding rates, liquidations, and options data to one of the industry's largest market-data platforms.

Coinglass will continue operating independently for now, but the acquisition has sparked debate over data concentration, as Coinmarketcap is owned by Binance. The next question is whether Coinglass will remain independent under its new ownership.

The acquisition gives Coinmarketcap deeper leverage data for 115 million monthly users, raising concerns about data concentration in the industry.

Coinmarketcap CEO Rush said derivatives are where most of the market's risk is taken, and Coinglass provides valuable insights into that space. The company plans to integrate Coinglass data into its broader market-data offering, making it easier for users to understand both what moved markets and why.
