Binance Overhauls Account Structure: Cryptocurrencies Move from Funding to Spot
Binance is overhauling its account structure by migrating most cryptocurrencies from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts. This change will start on September 29, 2026, and continue until January 2027.
The migration involves moving assets from Funding Accounts into Spot Accounts without affecting users' total asset value or the security of their funds. Historical transaction records will remain available with their original Funding Account labels, making it clear that this is not a sale or withdrawal but rather an internal restructuring of Binance's account architecture.
The new Stocks Account, previously known as the Funding Account, will be dedicated to settling stock and stock-options trading. Starting on September 29, 2026, assets received through Binance Pay will be deposited into Spot Accounts instead of Funding Accounts. This change is part of a broader effort by Binance to consolidate cryptocurrency activity within Spot while transforming Funding into the Stocks Account.
