Binance Overhauls Funding Accounts to Support Tokenized Stocks Trading
Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, is restructuring its Funding Accounts to better align with tokenized stocks trading. The exchange announced plans to migrate user holdings from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts in a phased process starting September 29, 2026. This change will simplify account structures and separate crypto holdings from stock settlement.
The Stocks Account will be dedicated to clearing and settling equities and stock options, while the Spot Account will handle cryptocurrency deposits and withdrawals. The six supported settlement assets for stocks trading include USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB. Users can proactively move their crypto holdings using a new One-Click Migration feature in the latest version of the Binance mobile app.
Binance will automatically transfer any remaining eligible crypto balances in batches starting January 2027. The exchange assures that this migration will not affect users' total asset values or fund security. Other services, such as Binance Card, Gift Card, and certain Pay transactions, will also be affected by the account redesign.
