Binance Pay has expanded its reach in Japan by introducing USDT payments at most PayPay merchant locations across the country. Starting on September 30th, overseas visitors can use Tether's stablecoin to make purchases at various merchants.

The service uses HIVEX, a payment interoperability framework that connects overseas QR payment services with PayPay merchants. This means users pay in USDT, but merchants receive settlement in Japanese yen exactly as before. No separate registration process is required for merchants.

Binance Pay is the first digital asset payment service connected to PayPay merchants through HIVEX. PayPay is a widely-used mobile payment service in Japan, accepted at major chain stores, retail outlets, vending machines, taxis, and public transportation.
