Binance Pay Brings USDT Payments to Millions of Japanese Merchants
Binance Pay has launched USDT payment services in Japan, allowing overseas visitors to pay for goods and services using the stablecoin at millions of locations across the country.
The service, which began on September 30, integrates with PayPay's merchant network via HIVEX, a payment interoperability framework that connects overseas QR payment services to PayPay-supported merchants in Japan.
Users can pay in USDT through Binance Pay, and the transaction is routed through HIVEX to the merchant's PayPay system. Merchants receive settlement in Japanese yen exactly as before, without requiring any separate registration or onboarding process.
This move marks one of the clearest signs yet that crypto payment rails are merging with everyday retail infrastructure in a major tourist economy.
