Binance Pay is expanding its cryptocurrency spending options in Japan by enabling eligible overseas visitors to pay with Tether USDt (USDT) at most merchants that accept PayPay.

The rollout begins on Wednesday, with settlement handled in yen rather than crypto. This integration is made possible through HIVEX, a payment interoperability framework designed to connect overseas QR payment applications with local PayPay-supported merchant infrastructure.

Binance says it is the first crypto payment service to reach PayPay merchants via HIVEX, and participating merchants will not need separate opt-ins for the new payment method. The move aims to simplify transactions for visitors who hold their funds in cryptocurrency rather than local fiat.
