Binance Pay Expands USDT Payments to Japanese Merchants via HIVEX
Binance Pay has expanded its USDT payment services to include PayPay merchants in Japan. The integration, facilitated by the HIVEX interoperability framework, allows eligible overseas users to make payments using Tether USDt at millions of locations across the country.
According to Binance, this is the first time a crypto payment service has been integrated with PayPay-supported merchants through the HIVEX network. Merchants do not need to opt-in separately for the service, which is expected to cater to the large number of international visitors Japan attracts each year.
The country welcomed 42.7 million international visitors in 2025, and while arrivals were down 9.6% in August this year compared to last year, total arrivals for the first eight months of 2026 still stand at 27.6 million, down 2.7%. This highlights the potential demand for cross-border payment services.
