Binance Pours $100 Million into Circle for Global USDC Expansion
Binance has invested $100 million in Circle, a stablecoin issuer behind USD Coin (USDC). The investment follows an expansion of their strategic partnership to promote USDC across Binance's global platform.
The five-year partnership aims to increase adoption of the cryptocurrency stablecoin, particularly in emerging markets. Binance will promote USDC on its platform, while Circle provides infrastructure services for holding and using it.
Richard Teng, co-CEO of Binance, described the investment as a long-duration conviction in Circle's credibility as an issuer. Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Circle, highlighted Binance's growth into one of the largest digital currency platforms.
