Binance has rejected speculation that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde intervened in its failed Greek crypto license bid, saying it remains committed to operating under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).

The exchange withdrew its Greek application on June 30, just days before the July 1 MiCA deadline, and said it would seek authorization in another EU jurisdiction.

A report by The Wall Street Journal claimed Lagarde had asked Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis not to approve Binance's application, but a Binance spokesperson declined to comment on speculation.

Binance has been seeking a MiCA license in Greece since January and had intended to operate in the country. However, it later withdrew its application and will now seek authorization elsewhere.
