Binance Rises as Top Crypto Exchange in India Amidst Regulatory Stricter Measures
In India, where crypto trading is legal but heavily regulated, finding a fully compliant exchange can be challenging. To help users navigate this landscape, we analyzed and tested over 40 platforms to identify the best exchanges for buying and selling cryptocurrencies in Indian Rupees (INR). Our research focused on regulatory compliance, available markets, INR support, trading tools and fees, security features, and ease of use.
According to our analysis, Binance is currently the top-rated exchange in India. It holds licenses in the country and complies with Indian Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know-Your-Customer (KYC) laws. Users can buy cryptocurrencies using INR via its peer-to-peer marketplace, which supports local payment methods such as Paytm, Digital eRupee, IMPS, UPI, and bank transfers.
The platform also boasts excellent security measures, including multiple multi-factor authentication options, and offers trading fees below the industry standard. However, to prevent deepfake attacks, exchanges must now use live selfie verification with liveness detection, 'penny-drop' bank validation, and geotagging, making compliance a significant challenge.
Other notable exchanges in our list include Kraken, Bybit, OKX, Coinbase, and KuCoin. While these platforms also offer INR support and competitive trading fees, they may not meet the same level of regulatory compliance as Binance.
