Binance, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, is searching for an alternative route to gain authorization in the European Union after its license bid in Greece collapsed. The exchange's head of Europe and the UK, Gillian Lynch, claims Binance will not abandon the region despite the setback.

The firm has roughly a week before its right to operate across the 27-nation bloc lapses. Regulators in Ireland, Latvia, and Greece resisted Binance's approaches, citing past penalties, complex corporate structure, and a culture perceived as too tolerant of risk.

Lynch said Binance had approached four or five regulators across the bloc but lodged only one formal application, in Greece. She expressed confusion over the refusal, insisting the filing carried no outstanding issues.
