Binance is exploring a return to Malaysia after a five-year absence, with discussions underway for a licensed operation in the country. The cryptocurrency exchange has been in talks with Malaysian regulators, including the Securities Commission Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia, for the past ten months. A Binance spokesperson confirmed the engagement, stating that the company is seeking a licensed pathway to offer its products and services in Malaysia.
The move comes as Malaysian authorities have previously blocked Binance’s website and applications, restricting its operations in the country. Despite this, Binance appears committed to re-establishing its presence through regulatory compliance. The spokesperson’s statement to Bloomberg on Saturday highlights the company’s efforts to navigate the regulatory landscape and regain access to the Malaysian market.
