Binance Shifts Commodity Perpetual Futures Trading to 24/5
Binance has announced that it will be limiting its commodity perpetual futures trading to 24/5, aligning with traditional market hours. This change will take effect on September 15 at 21:00 UTC.
The shift marks a return to the old schedule for these contracts, which were previously available for trading 24/7 with an hour-long daily pause for maintenance.
This decision was made in response to concerns about price discovery and basis risk between Binance prices and market opens on Mondays. Under the new schedule, trading liquidations and funding will not be active over the weekends.
The move is expected to improve execution quality for exchanges and institutions, as focusing liquidity on weekdays may entice firms who previously steered clear of dark weekend books.
