Binance Suspends Base Deposits Ahead of Cobalt Hard Fork
Binance will temporarily halt deposits and withdrawals for tokens on the Base network starting at 17:00 UTC on September 30, 2026. This is to prepare for the Cobalt hard fork, a significant technical upgrade that will occur roughly one hour later, at 18:00 UTC.
The Cobalt upgrade represents one of the most substantial overhauls for the Ethereum scaling network developed by Coinbase. Binance will handle all technical requirements internally, ensuring users won't need to take any action.
Among the key changes, Cobalt will migrate Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) signer registration from external systems to full onchain attestation verification. This move reduces reliance on external proving systems and strengthens the security guarantees of Base's TEE-based operations.
