Binance Tightens Controls on International Crypto Transfers from Brazil
Binance is implementing new regulations for international crypto transfers from Brazil, effective November 1. The exchange will require additional information from users for outbound transfers, including the purpose of each transfer and the type of counterparty involved. This includes customers who transfer assets to their own accounts at foreign exchanges.
The new rule applies to individuals and companies that move crypto to or from non-residents, and transactions between residents in Brazil are not included. Binance will also ask corporate accounts for the indication of any link between the other party and the same economic group.
For international transfers above $50,000, customers will need to select one of 96 available classifications. There is also a limit of $100,000 for certain international transfers when the counterparty is not authorized to operate in the Brazilian foreign exchange market.
Binance will report these operations to the Central Bank in a distinct category, separate from the Travel Rule in Brazil. The exchange said these requirements are separate from the Travel Rule, whose implementation is expected in phases for domestic transactions in 2027 and international transactions in 2028.
