Binance Unveils Continuous FX Trading with New Perpetual Futures Contracts
Binance has expanded its derivatives offering into foreign exchange with the launch of 24/7 perpetual futures contracts. The first contract, USDBRLUSDT, will trade continuously and offer up to 100x leverage.
The contracts use a dual-mode pricing system: during regular FX trading hours, prices track a weighted index from third-party data providers; on weekends and public holidays, an orderbook-based pricing mechanism is used. This orderbook-based pricing uses an exponentially weighted moving average of orderbook prices.
Binance's trading head, Shunyet Jan, said the contracts aim to extend price discovery beyond traditional FX trading hours, giving traders a venue to hedge or take positions around the clock.
This move comes after Bybit introduced 24/7 perpetuals tracking EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY, settled in USDT and offering up to 100x leverage. Other exchanges, such as Kraken, have also entered the market with FX perpetuals contracts.
