Binance Unveils Lite Loan: A Bitcoin-Backed Borrowing Product with No Price-Liquidity
Binance has launched Lite Loan, a new borrowing product that allows eligible users to pledge Bitcoin and borrow up to $1,000 in USDT. The service aims to provide users with small, short-term liquidity needs without forcing them to sell their holdings.
The key feature of Lite Loan is the absence of price-triggered liquidation during the initial 30-day term. This means that borrowers are protected from having their collateral sold if its value falls. However, this protection is time-limited, and after 30 days, the loan can remain outstanding for up to another 30 days with interest accruing.
Binance charges a 1% service fee, temporarily reduced to 0.5%, which translates to roughly 12% and 6% on an annualised basis for a 30-day loan. This sits within the prevailing range for Bitcoin-backed lending rates, which are above comparable traditional credit but expected to compress as institutional capital enters the market.
