Western Union and digital payments platform Rain have introduced Stablecard, a new digital wallet and Visa card solution that enables users to receive, store, and spend digital dollars through blockchain-based payments. The service allows users to access USDPT, a dollar-backed stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank and operating on the Solana blockchain network.

USDPT is designed to maintain a 1:1 value with the U.S. dollar, with reserves supporting the token and allowing users to redeem their holdings for traditional currency. The launch of Stablecard represents another major step in the growing connection between traditional financial services, blockchain technology, and stablecoins.

The new service aims to provide consumers with a faster and more accessible way to interact with digital dollars, especially in regions where traditional banking access may be limited. Western Union's involvement demonstrates that established financial institutions are paying closer attention to how blockchain technology may reshape global payments.
