Binance.US Targets Prediction Market License Amid Surge in Volume
Binance.US is preparing to submit an application to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for permission to offer prediction markets in August. This move is part of the exchange's broader comeback strategy, which also includes lower trading fees and expanding beyond spot trading with products such as perpetuals.
According to former FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terrett, Steve Gregory, CEO of Binance U.S., stated that they will make the application in August. The push for a Designated Contract Market (DCM) license is key for offering event contracts or prediction markets.
The move follows a trend of both U.S. and offshore crypto platforms evolving into super apps covering everything from trading to investment. Binance's global arm introduced prediction markets in April 2026, while Coinbase, Gemini, and others are racing to get a slice of the prediction markets.
