Binance Warns of Phishing Attacks: Protect Yourself from Devastating Losses

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, has issued a critical scam warning to its clients. The exchange advised users to be extremely cautious amid a rise in phishing attacks targeting crypto investors.

The attackers are sending fake 'security alert' text messages to trick users into clicking malicious links, potentially resulting in devastating losses. These scams are often disguised as official notifications, such as 'Your account settings were changed' or 'Suspicious login detected,' and may contain a shortened link asking users to 'verify immediately.'

Binance clarified that it will never ask users to tap a link in a text message to 'verify' or 'secure' their account. To enhance protection, the exchange outlined three vital steps:

First, people should never click on unfamiliar links; instead, they should check their legitimacy using Binance Verify.

Next, users must turn on Withdrawal Address Whitelist in their security settings. This will ensure that funds can only go to addresses that have been pre-approved.

Third, people should enable Anti-Phishing Code and remember that genuine Binance emails will always include unique codes. If the message doesn't have it, then it's not from the exchange.
