BIP-110 Fails to Activate on Bitcoin Network
A proposed rule change called BIP-110 aimed to ban storing non-financial data in Bitcoin transactions for one year, but it failed to gain enough support from miners.
Only 2.53% of miners signaled their support for the change over a two-week period, which is not enough to activate it across all of Bitcoin.
A small group of supporters created a separate version of Bitcoin that enforces BIP-110, but it has produced only two new blocks in eight hours, compared to 48 blocks on the real Bitcoin network during the same time frame.
