BIP-110 Minority Chain Revives After Successful Block Production Under Blake2b Consensus
The BIP-110 minority chain, created by supporters of a Bitcoin blockchain for financial transactions only, has revived 23 days after its initial split. The chain had stalled due to difficulty in discovering blocks, but miners have now successfully mined over 800 blocks since block height 961640. This milestone was achieved under the new Blake2b consensus rules and with a reduced block size of 300 KB.
The decision to reduce the block size was made by Dashjr and minority chain developers, who believe it is more suitable for financial transactions. According to the btc-blake2b.org FAQ page, 'a block may also be no larger than about 300 kB (800,000 weight units)' while the new limits are in place.
The BIP-110 minority chain has not gained recognition from major crypto exchanges and is currently not listed on any centralized exchanges. Despite this, its supporters insist that it is a legitimate form of Bitcoin and should be considered as such.
