BIS Study Puts XRP Ledger in the Spotlight for Data Verification
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) recently published a study that chose XRP Ledger (XRPL) over numerous other blockchains to verify official statistical data. The BIS used XRPL in a proof-of-concept blockchain-based system to confirm the accuracy of economic and financial data, including GDP, inflation, and interest rates.
The system creates a cryptographic fingerprint from the data and stores it on the XRP Ledger, allowing users to verify whether their data file matches the original publication. The prototype reportedly completes the publishing process in 3-5 seconds and the verification process in 1-2 seconds.
Researchers cited XRPL's low transaction fees, fast transaction speed, and development environment as reasons for choosing it. This new study reveals that XRP Ledger can be used not only as a payment infrastructure but also to verify data integrity.
