Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has reacted to news that the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is testing its Global Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) with the XRP Ledger.

This development comes as no surprise to him, according to a recent interview. He stated that he had expected this move from the BIS and was not caught off guard by it.

The BIS is known for its experimental nature when it comes to exploring new technologies in the field of central banking. In 2020, they launched Project Mariana, which aimed at developing a distributed ledger technology (DLT) for cross-border payments.
