Bitcoin Adds Diversification to Portfolios in Era of AI-Fueled Risk Concentration

A new report from Bitcoin Suisse suggests that a small allocation of Bitcoin in portfolios can boost returns, particularly when combined with AI investments. The report notes that the concentration of capital in AI and increasing debt financing is tying portfolio risk to a single economic cycle.

The researchers tested various Bitcoin allocations in a model consisting of stocks, bonds, gold, and money market assets. They found that even a 1% allocation of Bitcoin increased returns from 6.2% to 7.2%, with the return rising further to 8.6% at a 2.5% allocation.

The report emphasizes that Bitcoin is not a traditional risk-off asset, but rather an option that can provide a different source of risk and diversification in portfolios. This is particularly relevant given the current market conditions, where AI investments are concentrated and stock-bond movements are converging.

Bitcoin Suisse also notes that Ethereum could gain importance as collateral and transaction infrastructure for tokenized financial assets. However, the main finding from the report is that a small Bitcoin allocation can create a diversification effect during periods of high concentration in AI investments.
