Bitcoin and Ethereum: Stability vs. Recovery Potential
Bitcoin and Ethereum have seen significant price drops from their all-time highs. While Bitcoin fell 33%, Ethereum dropped by 45%. However, in a remarkable recovery, Ethereum surged 71% over 90 days compared to Bitcoin's 44%. This has left investors wondering whether to buy into one or the other.
Bitcoin's capped supply of 21 million coins and its $108 billion ETF assets give it a more stable position. In contrast, Ethereum's lack of maximum supply allows for changes in its issuance through network upgrades. The institutional support also leans towards Bitcoin, with U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs holding about $108.4 billion in assets compared to roughly $17.8 billion in Ethereum.
For long-term investors seeking a steadier option, Bitcoin may be the better choice in 2026. However, Ethereum's potential for quicker recoveries and its role in enabling smart contracts may appeal to those willing to take on larger price swings.
