Bitcoin and XRP Face Critical Test as Price Lockstep Continues
Bitcoin's price has been holding steady near $80,000 as XRP looks to break through the $1.50 barrier ahead of a crucial test on September 11.
The two assets have been trading in lockstep for several days, with Bitcoin peaking at around $82,200 and XRP topping out at $1.48 on September 3.
However, their price movements have been remarkably similar since then, with both assets experiencing a 5-7% decline from their recent highs.
The synchronization between the two assets is now facing its biggest test yet, according to Bitrue Research Institute, which notes that it's 'not driven by the same underlying asset.'
XRP, in particular, has a catalyst coming up on September 11 with the activation of the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment on the XRP Ledger.
This upgrade includes technical improvements affecting vaults, lending protocols, and automated market makers, as well as advancements in infrastructure linked to decentralized finance and tokenized real-world assets.
Bitcoin, on the other hand, has no comparable network catalyst this week, creating an opportunity for a clean market experiment.
