Bitcoin and XRP Face Different Challenges in Red September
Bitcoin and XRP have different risk profiles heading into September, according to historical data. While Bitcoin has seen a price increase of about 25% in August but faces resistance between $80,000 and $82,000, XRP has had seven positive Septembers with an average gain near 13.8%. Large rallies in 2013, 2016, and 2018 lift that average sharply.
The Federal Reserve meets on September 15-16 after Chair Kevin Warsh warned that inflation stayed above target. The 10-year Treasury yield recently reached 4.82%, while the dollar held near a two-week high. Higher yields and a firmer dollar can reduce demand for volatile assets.
XRP traded near $1.35 after gaining about 30% during August. Immediate support lies between $1.30 and $1.35, while resistance sits between $1.50 and $1.60. Futures data show changing participation with total XRP futures exposure falling 16% from August 17 to August 31.
