Bitcoin at Critical Crossroads as Descending Trendline Tests Resolve
Bitcoin is at a critical juncture as it hovers near its 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) while pressing against a long-standing descending trendline. This technical crossroads comes after weeks of sideways trading, with BTC currently priced around $63,420.
The daily chart shows Bitcoin caught between the 50-day SMA at approximately $63,456 and the descending trendline that has capped price since the earlier peak above $82,000. The combination of this falling resistance and relatively stable support has resulted in increasingly tight price action.
For bulls, a decisive daily break above the descending trendline would be the first confirmation, followed by clearing the recent cluster of highs around $64,500 to $66,000 to show that the broader range is beginning to resolve upward. Beyond this zone, the chart places the 200-day SMA near $69,505.
However, if Bitcoin loses the 50-day SMA and starts closing below the nearby $63,000 region, the bullish scenario would weaken, potentially leading to a deeper breakdown toward approximately $61,000 later in August. The short-term setup has improved after price reacted from the $62,800 area, but the chart still shows important resistance overhead and unresolved liquidity below.
