Bitcoin Awaits Breakout Catalyst at $84,800
Bitcoin's price action is closely watched by analysts and traders as it inches closer to a potential breakout at $90,000. According to crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe, one key level will decide whether Bitcoin continues to grind higher or not.
The case for a push higher started with fund flows, where spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $2.39 billion last week, the strongest week since October 2025. However, this buying did not sustain, and inflows peaked at almost $1 billion on Monday before falling to roughly $134 million by Friday.
Van de Poppe believes that breaking above $84,800 will be the catalyst for Bitcoin to reach $90,000 levels. He stated on X, 'There's only one level that Bitcoin needs to break, and then, once again, we'll continue to grind higher.'
The week's main risk will be macro, with August personal consumption expenditures data due on September 30. Fundstrat's Tom Lee had argued that the release could work in crypto's favor, potentially cutting core inflation by 0.2 to 0.4 percentage points.
