Bitcoin Bandits Face Decades in Prison for Violent Home Invasion

Two teenagers, Skylar LaPaille and Jackson Sullivan, allegedly carried out a violent home invasion in Scottsdale, Arizona. The incident occurred on January 31st when the pair, dressed as delivery workers, restrained and terrorized a couple at their four-bedroom home near 96th Street and Cactus Road.

The victims were bound with black tape, and one of them was punched in the stomach and slammed to the ground. The intruders demanded access to the homeowner's crypto wallet, which they believed contained a $66-million price tag on his back.

LaPaille and Sullivan made off with their Subaru Outback but were apprehended by police after a high-speed chase along Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. During their arrest, LaPaille confessed to planning the heist with Sullivan over social media, targeting a businessman who had been defrauded in a past crypto investment.

The pair faces decades in prison if convicted of kidnapping, aggravated assault, and burglary charges. Their trial is scheduled for October 14th. In a surprising turn, Jackson Sullivan's attorney successfully petitioned the court to allow him to return to California while under electronic monitoring, citing his minor status and family ties.
